Fundraising is never far from our minds!
With this in mind and with CHRISTMAS approaching!! it would be great if all members and their friends, relatives and anyone else who wants to, sign up to Easy Fundraising. By buying your presents and practically any day-to-day purchase via theEasy Fundraisingwebsite donations will be made at various rates by the retailers you use. There are hundreds of useful retailers up there dying to give us a hand, so please sign up and remember to do your shopping that way. Tiso, Blacks and Field and Trek are up there for starters. Amazon, Comet, Ebay, PCWorld etc. etc. Check it out!
EIGHT members have currently signed up and we have raised a total of £27.66 so far on purchases. We need a few more members buying please! Only 3 have bought so far and look how well they've done.

The Accelerace West Highlands Ultra, on the 20th June 2009, begins with a 3.5 mile swim in Loch Morar, then a 175 mile bike ride to the Applecross peninsular, and finally a 35 mile run around the peninsular to Lochcarron. It’s pretty epic – and this will be the second year we run the event – attracting a fairly small field of fairly unique competitors from across the country. Full details on the event are on our site www.accelerace.co.uk. If anyone in the kayak club wants to take part, then please get in touch, but if it looks a little much, we’re looking for as many kayakers as possible to help with the swim section – to provide support on the Loch as the swimmers will be out in the water for around 2 hours in most cases. All kayak supporters will be rewarded with an Accelerace hoodie. To get involved, then please drop Chris at Accelerace an email: cgrundberg@accelerace.co.uk.
All of the 2008 touring calendar paddles now completed. Check out the trip reports page for info. and pics on these.
This year's AGM was well attended. Soup, sandwiches, cake and meringues were very welcome after a fairly long and productive meeting. There were some resignations and new appointments made. Minutes will appear in due course once Joan has processed them. Lunch was followed by an afternoon paddle on Loch nan Uamh in glorious conditions, departing from the viaduct, complete with concrete-encased horse, and following the northerly shore as far as Ghaoideil and returning round the outside of An Glas-eilean - a total of 13km. The paddle was followed by a welcome drink, but a most unwelcoming reception from mine hostess at the Lochailort Inn.
